With the world slowly moving toward a foreseen energy crisis, it is important that we do away with our dependency on non-renewable sources of energy. Non-renewable sources are coming closer and closer to extinction. Renewable energy solutions refer to those energy solutions that can keep churning energy without exhausting the resources. Currently, we use two types of renewable energy solutions for individual home use: solar energy solutions, and wind energy solutions. Renewable energy advantages include not only benefits to the environment, they also can be a savings to you and your household. Michael Harvey shows that when you equip your home with alternative energy generators, not only do you save on your energy bills, in same cases the electric companies will pay you! |
|
| Solar energy advantages: The sun produces the most abundant source of energy available on earth. This energy is free. We should make use of it. You can use solar power for home use. This will not only greatly reduce power bills but will also contribute to a greener world. A solar energy home uses solar heating, solar cooking, solar lighting systems, etc.
(You can easily make your home a solar home.) What is solar energy? |

| As with most renewable energy advantages, solar energy systems are cost-effective and environment-friendly. They are also low maintenance systems, which means you save time and effort in keeping them going.
Another solar energy benefit is that it gives you a quick return on your investment. The savings on energy costs adds up in a short period of time. Still another advantage for the solar home: Cooking with solar energy is considered very healthy. Solar energy as a power solution for homes is beginning to catch on. {Take advantage of renewable energy starting now. Make your home a renewable power home.) Windpower: Windmills are the oldest and most well-known wind energy machines. They date back more than two thousand years. They have been instrumental in towing boats, grinding wheat, and pumping water. After a while, with post-industrialization, they became a source for generating electricity. Windmills and wind turbines have always been an important energy aid. Tons of megawatts of electricity can be produced from wind energy. Utilized in individual estates, a verticle windmill can help eliminate the need for conventional power sources. Wind energy is an excellent renewable source of energy, and promises to be a major source of energy for generations to come. (Did you know that building your own windmill is easier than it looks?) |

There are other sources of renewable energy. Hydro energy, nuclear energy, and geothermal energy are used on large scales to provide power to entire communities. Hopefully, these renewable energy sources will be explored with responsibility, so that energy can be produced safely and without harm to the ecological system or to people who live near power plants.
The safest and most cost effective ways of “off grid” energy is to use windpower and solar panels. While common wisdom says these items are expensive, they actually cost relatively little to make, they are easy to make for the Do it Yourselfers, and they pay for themselves in a short time.solar Read up on making your home environment friendly and cost effective. |

Veljko Milkovic - Self-Heating Ecological House - Google Project 10^100 Idea
Google Project 10^100 Idea - Self-heating eco-house concept by Veljko Milkovic - short version with subtitles: English, German, French, Hungarian, Slovenian, Serbian…

Self-heating eco-house with the reflecting surfaces - the house protected from outside noise with stable temperature, a lot of light and cheaper to build.
Instead of a traditional roof, ecological house has a layer of soil, protecting the house from low winter and high summer temperatures. In addition, walls are protected from erosion. Ecological house does not require deep foundation, large area for heating material, heating installations etc. Savings in heating is based on reflecting surfaces i.e. surfaces that reflect direct and diffuse radiation of the Sun (around 80%). These are glossy coats (of lacquer and paint), aluminum foils and metal sheets on hard surface. The upper reflecting surface is built into the eaves of the object and is fixed. The lower one is positioned under the window and can serve as a shutter. Eco house in Novi Sad (Serbia), for example, had savings in lightning of 30% and savings in building material 40%.
It cuts heating cost to minimum and protects tenants health from artificial acclimatization and decreases fire risk.
Any house tenant (owner or renter) would have benefit from low heating cost, bright premises and noise free environment. In the summer tenant would enjoy cool area without acclimatization usage.
Building these eco-houses in large city areas would result in savings in building material (mostly wood), savings in heating energy (gas, electricity, wood, coal), clean air and increase of green areas in the city.
The presented eco-house is located in Novi Sad (Serbia) owned by Mr. Aleksandar Nikolić who lives in that house with his family more than 12 years and who speaks, in this video, about his positive experience of living in such house stating the advantages of building that eco-house with the reflecting surfaces…
Veljko Milković http://www.veljkomilkovic.com is the ideological creator (author) of this self-heating eco-house concept with the reflecting surfaces and the owner of this eco-house in Novi Sad (Serbia), Aleksandar Nikolić did a construction project for presented eco-house.
Veljko Milković still develops and improves this principle of building the self-heating eco-houses.

“SAMURAI” Solar Power Generating System for Home Use by Kyoc
DigInfo - http://www.diginfo.tv
Kyocera exhibited the “SAMURAI” solar power generating system for home use at the ECO Products 2008 show.
The system features a multi layout that combines two different types of solar cell modules. Both module types have a short longitudinal width but the horizontal lengths are different with one being shorter than the other. Because of the multi layout feature, the SAMURAI system can be beautifully installed even on hipped roofs and roofs with complex shapes, and because the system efficiently utilizes the available roof space, more solar cell modules can be installed, and as a result, more power can be generated.
In addition, the surface area and weight of the SAMURAI system are both about one-third that of conventional products available in the past, and the thickness is about one-fifth. The result is a lighter weight system with a thinner design.

21st Century Transportation [XPrize - Crazy Green Idea]-re
We all know and understand the impact that humans have on the environment. Things must change.
A competition to design a new form of high speed mass transportation will allow us to reduce our usage of fossil fuels, and it would allow our economies to grow. Automobiles are not the way of the future.
This competition would push our current technologies to their limits. It will challenge the greatest innovators of our time. It is a competition that is worth $10 million.
Rules:
1. The system can not use fossil fuels. Perhaps teams could build a train track out of solar panels. Or add wind turbines to create energy.
2. Construction costs can not exceed $25 million per mile.
3. Speeds much reach up to 450 mph.
The Benefits:
1. Provide the necessary infrastructure for the 21st century.
2. Greatly reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, if not eliminate.
3. We can even save on space. Fewer cars means less need for large parking lots.
4. Save citizens time.
